Jill Radford
Jill Radford is an author, researcher, and gender justice activist. She is a professor of Criminology and Women’s Studies at the University of Teesside, UK.
Radford’s research is concentrated issues of gender-based violence, specifically domestic violence and sexual abuse. She is a founding member and Chair of the Tees Valley Sexual Violence Forum and a member of the Middlesbrough Domestic Violence Forum.
Professor Radford and Diana Russell, PhD are the co-editors of the book Femicide: The Politics of Killing Women (1992). Together they popularized the term “femicide,” coined by second-wave feminist author Carol Orlock.
Radford published Women, Violence, and Strategies for Action: Feminist Research, Policy, and Practice (2000). She also co-edited Tackling Domestic Violence: Theories, Policies, and Practice (2008) with Lynne Harne.
